Adoption of International Standards on Auditing (ISAs) in Ghana

The adoption of International Standards on Auditing (ISAs) in Ghana was officially announced in January 2012.

All auditors are expected to apply the clarified ISAs when auditing their clients' financial statements for the year ending on or after 31 December 2012.

Following the publication in December 2012 and further consultations with practitioners, the Institute restated its position on the signing of audit reports.

Requirements for Signing an Audit Report

State the name and licence number of the firm and be signed in the name of the firm.
State the name and practising certificate number of the responsible individual who was in charge of the audit.
Disclose the designation “Chartered Accountants”.
State the address of the firm.
State the date of the report.

Important Notice

Professional accountants and audit firms should ensure that audit reports comply with these signing requirements when applying the International Standards on Auditing in Ghana.
