Demand notices are sent in December and members are expected to renew their membership in January of the following year. In May, prior to the commencement of the Accountants’ Week celebrations, a list of members in good standing is published in the dailies.
For renewal of practice certificates, demand notices are sent in September and licenses of deserving members are issued in January. In April, a list of members in practice is sent to regulatory authorities such as banks, the IRS, insurance companies and the Registrar General’s Department.
Membership Renewal Cycle
December: Demand notices are issued to members.
January: Members are expected to renew their membership.
May: A list of members in good standing is published in the dailies ahead of Accountants’ Week.
Practice Certificate Renewal
September: Demand notices for practice certificate renewal are issued.
January: Practice licenses are issued to deserving members.
April: A list of members in practice is sent to relevant regulatory authorities.
Registration of Accounting & Auditing Firms
The Department is also responsible for maintaining a database of chartered accounting and auditing firms in the country. A completed registration form should contain the following details:
- Name of Managing Partner
- Names of other Partners, if any
- Location and postal address of firm
- Type of service offerings
- Continuing partnership arrangements
